Parenting The Explosive Child Workshop

Description:

Sessions: Thursdays January 28, February 11, 25, and March 11, 2010
This four (4) part series of parenting the Explosive Child is based upon the work of Dr. Green and Dr, Albion. The Explosive Child workshop looks at children who exhibit defiance, intense temper outbursts, aggression, poor frustration tolerance, and high anxiety. We will examine the work of Dr. Greene, whose approach to dealing with these behaviors has been proven to decrease conflict and improve the child's ability to handle frustration and to self regulate their emotions.

Person-Directed Planning Symposium in Ingersoll

 

The goal of the symposiums is to create a shared provincial understanding about person-directed planning by sharing information and discussing the core values, principles and functions associated with person-directed planning, including why it is important and the partnerships required to promote the values and principles that drive this approach to planning and facilitation.

The audience for the symposiums will be capped at 100 participants in total from the following groups: adults with developmental disabilities, families, service providers and others who are interested in learning more about person-directed planning. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The symposiums will be all day events and will be held in:

  • Ingersoll on March 11, 2010
  • Toronto on March 23, 2010
  • Ottawa on March 26, 2010
  • Thunder Bay on March 29, 2010
  • Sudbury on March 31, 2010

This is a chance for teens, young adults and their workers or support person to get together to play board games and socialize. It is held at The Extend-A-Family office (91 Moore Ave, Kitchener)The second Thursday of every month from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. All individuals attending should be accompanied by a support person.
