Parenting Children with ADHD

NOTE: This group will run on Wednesday evenings starting January 20th.

Share ideas and strategies with other parents.  Increase your knowledge about children with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).  Explore positive qualities of children with ADHD.   Develop strategies to increase positive behaviour.  Reduce aggressive behaviour.  Encourage cooperation and solve problems.  We will also address learning issues and how to work with your child's school.

Event Details
This event will increase cross-sectoral understanding of the disadvantages parents with disabilities face with the legal system when their disability is linked with race, culture, faith, financial status and/or family structure.

We welcome the participation of Judges, Lawyers, Child Advocates, Child Protection Workers, Social Workers, Disability Advocates and Parents with disabilities, and their allies. The symposium will feature keynote speakers and panellists from diverse backgrounds and experiences, as well as small group discussion and networking opportunities.

Wilfrid Laurier University's Accessible Learning Center will be hosting its fourth annual disability awareness week. The awareness week will be running from Tuesday February 2nd to Thursday February 4th, between 10:00am and 2:00pm each day. We are inviting other campus groups and organizations in the Kitchener-Waterloo area to collaborate in order to bring disability awareness to the WLU community. We will be hosting this event in the university's concourse area, where different booths will be set up with information about a variety of disabilities.
