Educating Human Resource Professionals - February 9, 2010

Presenter: Kim Wrigley-Archer
Human Resources personnel, responsible for the ‘people' part of business, have considerable impact on decisions to hire, retain, and promote persons with disabilities as well as in maintaining respectful work environments. Past employment studies have documented the high unemployment rates among working age adults with disabilities in comparison to the non-disabled population in Canada. Hidden discrimination and negative attitudes are perceived by persons with disabilities to be a major cause. All this suggests that more attention needs to be paid to the education of Human Resource personnel.  In this Webinar, the researcher will outline her research design and preliminary findings of this cutting-edge research.
Captioning, ASL and intervenor accommodation is available upon request, thanks to funding from the Office for Disability Issues, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.
