In addition, analysis will be completed to determine what extent, if any, footedness has on movement planning and avoidance. Nicole VanRuymbeke is conducting this project as part of a summer research project. Children with confirmed diagnosis of High Functioning Autism (made by a medical professional) as well as typically developing children are needed.
You will be asked to fill in a brief background questionnaire in order to determine your child's eligibility for participation. Your child will then complete a set of obstacle avoidance tasks, in addition to a functional footedness assessment. All information and data collected will remain confidential. Approximately 1 hour of your child's time will be required. Participation is voluntary, and participants can omit any procedure or end the study at any time they wish.
If interested in participating, please contact Nicole VanRuymbeke in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at Wilfrid Laurier University, at vanr9020@wlu.ca or 519-884-0710 ext. 4774. This research is being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Michael Cinelli of the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at Wilfrid Laurier University. This study has been approved by the Wilfrid Laurier University Research Ethics Board (REB # 2435).
